About The Event
This local group will be playing hot swing from the 1930s, and 40s, inspired by Belgian guitar wizard Django Reinhart and violinist Stephane Grapelli. You may call it "gateway jazz" because it features upbeat tuneful melodies that stick with you. You might leave whistling!
The bands name, Swing 44, is a play on song titles used in this music, like Swing 39, Swing 48, and Swing 42, which is the year each of those songs was written. We are Swing 44 because our beloved Bend sits on the 44th parallel.
